Queensland Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner TechConnect IT Solutions has tapped its vendor partner for a new boss, as its founder Mike Cunningham steps aside.

The Brisbane-based solutions provider has appointed Jason Leith, former AWS sales manager, to be its new chief executive officer, taking over the leadership and operations from Cunningham, the founder and now-former managing director.

Cunningham will step into the general manager role while Leith will now be tasked with helping the company reach “the next stage of maturity”.

“I am incredibly excited and honoured to be joining TechConnect. I have had a long association with the team at TechConnect and have charted their growth in Australia over recent years,” Leith said. “The company has a strong culture and some of the finest technical minds in the industry.”

In his most recent role, Leith was enterprise sales manager for AWS and, before that role, led Google in Queensland. He has also held roles at VMware and Data#3.

Cunningham, who founded TechConnect in 2010, said that Leith was selected for his experience in growing data services businesses in enterprise.

“We have seen an intense bout of market consolidation in the data services and digital marketplace with several recent mergers and acquisitions. We know we have a great offering at TechConnect and we’re backing ourselves for significant growth,” he said.

The company will now add a ‘data strategy sprint’ capability to its portfolio, alongside its growing areas of machine learning and artificial intelligence and is now on the hunt for a Chief Technology Officer.

It additionally hopes to grow its headcount to 100 people spread between Brisbane and the Gold Coast over the next three to five years.
